Canadian "Human Rights" lawyers (i.e. al Qaeda sympathizers) at Guantanamo are hard at work to get a plea deal for a Canadian-born jihadi who killed US Special Forces medic in Afghanistan.
Khadr, who was 15 when he was captured following the firefight in Afghanistan in 2002, was originally scheduled to go on trial Monday at the U.S. base in Cuba. He faces war crimes charges that include murder for allegedly throwing a grenade that killed Army Sergeant First Class Christopher Speer, a Special Forces medic from Albuquerque, New Mexico. If convicted, he faces a maximum life sentence.
The Khadr case is problematic for the U.S. because of his age and the fact that his father, who was killed in 2003, had close ties to senior al-Qaida leaders. His lawyers and human rights groups say Khadr was a child soldier, essentially brainwashed by his family, who should be sent home and rehabilitated.
There is no rehabilitation for this piece of scum - release would only turn him into an al Qaeda hero; a propaganda coup for the enemy.
Unlike most war crimes cases at Guantanamo, Khadr's case involves specific American victims.

Gotta love those bleeding heart liberals - like most uninformed civilian journalists, they keep regarding the military tribunals at Guantanamo as comparable somehow to a civilian court of law.
Heads up, Civvie Street: according to the Law of Land Warfare, as codified by the Hague and Geneva Conventions (NOT signed by the United States, by the way) a military tribunal requires (at a minimum) a commissioned officer reads the charges against the accused before sentencing. The sentence - usually death by firing squad or hanging - may be carried out immediately, as required by military necessity.
In reality, this drumhead tribunal kind of military justice is extremely rare - even going back in history. But just to bring you up to speed - in a court martial THERE IS NO JURY.
There is a panel of officers, and sometimes if an enlisted man is being tried, a senior non-com may be present. This panel takes the role of judge AND jury. Because the tribunals at Guantanamo exist in an almost-peacetime environment, and because of the political sensitivities of the situation, the military goes as far out as possible to make the tribunals LOOK LIKE a civilian court of law.
Fact of the matter is all they're required to do - by International Law of Land Warfare - is read the accused the charges, then say, "Take him out back and shoot him!"
Which in this case would be appropriate.
All I know is this Khadr cat better HOPE he doesn't get released, because there's some HIGHLY PISSED OFF Green Berets out there - I know, I'm one of them.
