This post is a tad different to my usual posts which consist of me living in la la land, and everything is bright and rosy.
This post is to raise awareness of the Tiffany Murray Foundation. I do not know Tiffany personally, but my cousin does.
Please go to the Tiffany Murray Facebook Page to read further and more in depth information about Tiffany.
Article from the Herald Sun:
"Tiffany Murray is determined to use every ounce of her strength to beat cancer for the third time.
The 22-year-old was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, called rhabdomyosarcoma, when she was one. It was cut out, but came back at age eight.
The 22-year-old was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, called rhabdomyosarcoma, when she was one. It was cut out, but came back at age eight.
This time, she is up against an aggressive brain tumour called glioblastoma multiforme.
Tiffany, who is due to get married in February, said nothing would stop her walking down the aisle with her partner, Leigh Sutton. The couple has a girl, Milla, aged almost 11 months.
"It's so overwhelming. The oncologist said it's a super aggressive tumour, but I'm tough," Miss Murray said. "When I start to think about what they will do without me, I tell myself it's not an option, I'm not going to die."
Just 10 days ago, the Bendigo woman underwent lifesaving brain surgery at St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne.
The nightmare had started with a severe headache, but quickly deteriorated.
A dangerous blood clot and tumour had formed inside her brain. St Vincent's director of surgical and specialist services, Michael Murphy, said when Miss Murray turned up to the emergency department, her right pupil was dilated, which indicated her brain was being squashed.
At this stage, she was close to death but surgeons were able to remove the tumour and the blood clot.
The pressure build-up caused the blood vessels that controlled her sight to be cut off so she has lost some of her vision.
There are fears that some of the tumour remains in her brain. Once her swelling subsides, doctors will consider if it can be removed by surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
Her family and friends are trying to raise money to assist the young couple in the uncertain days ahead and, if necessary, fund additional treatment."
The trust is collecting money to be able to pay a surgeon, who has advised that they will need a minimum of $60,000 before he can operate and a further $40,000 for intensive care.
If the operation can not go ahead, it will go to Tiffany, Leigh & Milla to help make what precious time she has left easier.
If the trust can raise $85,000, Cotton On have pledged $15,000.
I am sure that any donation, would be very much appreciated.
