FINALLY, SOME HONEST IN BIG BUCK HUNTING STORIES

MY FAITH IN INTERNET STORIES HAS BEEN RESTORED.




Here's a picture of the new world record whitetail.

It was taken by the cousin of a co-worker's sister's, uncle's, best friend's, son-in-law's, niece's hairdresser's, neighbor's ex-boyfriend's oldest nephew. Reportedly it will score 2603-1/8 by B&C standard and was shot in West Texas on a really windy day, 85 degrees downhill, around a curve at 900 yards with a 22 mag.

Supposedly, this deer had killed a Brahma bull, two Land Rovers and six Jehovah's Witnesses in the last two weeks alone. They said it was winning a fight with Bigfoot when it was shot. It had also been confirmed that the buck had been seen drinking discharge water from a nuclear power plant.

This has been checked on Snopes who confirmed it. Honest!!!

FIELD-STRIPPING YOUR 1911

Everybody who owns and operates an M1911 should know and understand how to strip it down to it's basic groups:







This is as far as I go in the field. I can disassemble further, of course; the firing pin / extractor group, mainspring group, and trigger group - but this is not necessary for daily cleaning, or basic problem solving.

Yesterday, a question came up, so I took the opportunity to create a post and share the knowledge with all:


The 1911 is my favorite of all handguns - my question is how to disassemble the mags for cleaning. I have some original Colt mags that I have no idea how to remove the floor plates. Can't find any cathes, latches or buttons. I haven't had any success with simply trying to slide it open, either; this will surely damage it.


ANSWER:

"Original" Colt mags have their floorplates welded to the tube.


Yes, that's a six round magazine - I carry a compact Model 1911 - S.L.


Stick a few rounds into the magazine, and then run a pin through the holes in the magazine tube to hold the spring down.





Remove the rounds and the follower should fall out the top too. Carefully remove the pin, and the spring will come free:








The spring and follower will come out now. Re-assembly's the reverse - about the only zinger is to watch the orientation of the spring v.s. the follower.




Use a tool like I did to drive the spring back down so you can pin it when trying to re-assemble the magazine, and then just drop the follower in and release the pin.

Remember: There are no stupid questions, only the ones which are never asked.

Let me re-phrase that. Sometimes there ARE stupid questions, but questions about guns, gun safety, and marksmanshp do not fall into that category.

A collection of exotic animals - which were cared for in the grandest fashion, by the way.



7 Lions were on the property.

The back yard pool.



Exotic art collection - some of which was illegal to own - some stolen.



They just burned it all down!



More guns than you could ever imagine!



This pile of cash before it was counted was estimated to be approximately 18 million dollars!

After it was counted it turned out to be a little MORE than 22 MILLION DOLLARS!

Guns were hidden all over the house along with ample Ammo just in case of trouble.


Stacks of cash were found in every nook and cranny.


This case is filled with 100 dollar Bills estimated to be 1/2 a million dollars - no doubt headed out to make another drug buy perhaps from the Columbians.



18 plastic bins filled with 100 dollar bills were found.



Another cabinet stacked tight with cash - all 100's.



More 100's.



Each of these stacks of 100's holds $250,000 (a quarter of a million dollars)!



They also had millions in Colombian money and Mexican Pesos, although they preferred American dollars for the most part.

There were even some stacks of Chinese Yuan found in one closet.





More Gold machine guns and pistols - most were never fired, just held for collection value.





The money and valuables found in this one house alone, would be enough to pay for health insurance for every man woman and child in the U.S.A. for 12 years! There are believed to be approximately 27 more of these houses in Mexico alone not to mention the ones in other countries who are enriching themselves in the drug trade. These people have so much money, they make the Arab oil sheiks look like welfare recipients.

CHAZ: Sean, sorry, no details. This has been out for a while and I didn't see it attributed to any source. It's not faked up but I don't know how it could be verified with sources.

I don't think anyone would call "BRAVO SIERRA" on this but I understand your desire to present verified info. Tell 'em a pal sent it to you, he lives down on the border and the article has been floating around for a while.

Sean, more digging, found Snopes verified the story but also seems some of the pictures in the mix are from a raid by Colombian Policia and Marina, or by Mex authorities against Colombian dealers.

All I have to say is with enough money you can fund your own army, buy all the swimming pools you need, make some small donations to the Democratic Party, kill anyone who gets in your way and live big, at least for a while. This stuff barely gets publicized - if at all - down here in Mexifornia and Azatlan.

ARMY SNIPERS GO TO .300 WIN MAG

U.S. Army 2009 solicitation for a M24 reconfiguration




The U.S. Army put out a solicitation in May 2009 for reconfiguring M24 Sniper Weapon Systems currently available in Army inventory consisting of a:

* Rebarreling/rechambering the SWS's barrel optimized to accommodate Mk 248 (DODIC A191) .300 Winchester Magnum ammunition.

* Replacement of existing weaver rails with a MIL-STD-1913 rail capable of accommodating both a day optic and in-line forward mounted, AN/PVS-26 (NSN 5855-01-538-8121) image intensified (I2) night vision device.

* Reconfiguring the stock with a stock that incorporates a detachable box magazine, adjustable comb and length of pull.

* Addition of a detachable sound suppressor as well as any necessary barrel modifications required for a sound suppressor interface.

* Replacement of the existing day optic sight (DOS) and rings with an Army specified variable power day optic and compatible rings.

Army Snipers in Afghanistan will receive an improved rifle this fall.

For snipers, every war is different. Recognizing the differences between conditions in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Army is now selecting a contractor to upgrade the 22-year-old Remington bolt-action rifle to become a more effective killing machine. The Army will pour about $5.6 million into upgrades to the M24, with the new gear expected to be delivered to troops by this fall. The M24's barrel is being modified to shoot heavier .300 Winchester Magnum rounds, instead of the 7.62mm NATO ammunition, which should extend the rifle's maximum effective range by hundreds of yards to a maximum of about 1400 yards. The suppressor will reduce the noise and flash of the gun so snipers can stay in their hiding positions much longer after they fire.
